Carom billiards is a type of billiards played on a billiard table with no pockets. Carom Billiards Equipment
The sizes of a standardized carom billiard tables can range from 4X8 foot to 6X12 foot. The carom billiard table has no pockets and it is spotted on the head, foot and centre strings as well as on the head spot. A set of carom billiard balls include two cue balls - a clear ball and a spot ball.
Opening Break Shot
On the opening break shot, the red balls is put on the foot spot, the opponent's cue ball on the head spot and the breaker's cue ball on the head string, 6 inches away from the centre spot. In order to execute a legal opening break shot, the breaker must cause the cue ball to make its first contact with the red ball.
Fouls in Carom Billiard Games
These acts are considered as fouls in carom billiard games:
- To play out of turn
- To contact any ball unintentionally
- To strike the cue ball twice
- To contact the cue ball with anything but the cue tip
- To start shooting before the balls have stopped moving on the table
- To shot the wrong cue ball
- To cause the cue ball to jump off the table
Penalizes for Fouls
A player who has committed a foul will lose his turn and one point of his score.
